1. About Spool3D
Spool3D (ABN 28 586 980 199) ("Spool3D", "we", "us") operates spool3d.com.au from the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Enquiries: peter@spool3d.com.au.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing spool3d.com.au or placing an order, you agree to these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and our Returns and Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use this website or place an order.
These Terms apply to all orders placed through spool3d.com.au by consumers purchasing for personal, domestic, or household use. They do not create a business-to-business relationship.
3. Version Control
We maintain dated versions of these Terms. The version in effect when you placed your order governs that order. Subsequent changes do not retroactively alter a completed purchase. We may update these Terms at any time; material changes will be announced on our website with at least 7 days' notice before taking effect. Continued use of the website after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance. Prior versions are available on request.
4. Products
4.1 Descriptions
Product descriptions, images, and specifications are provided in good faith and are representative only. We reserve the right to update product specifications without notice where such change does not materially affect fitness for purpose.
4.2 Availability
Products are sold subject to availability. We do not offer pre-orders or backorders. If an item becomes unavailable after your order is placed, we will notify you and issue a full refund.
4.3 Colour Variation
Colour swatches and product photos are indicative only. Exact colour appearance varies between monitors, print environments, and manufacturing batches. Minor batch-to-batch colour variation is an inherent characteristic of filament manufacturing and does not constitute a defect.
4.4 Weight Tolerance
Nominal spool weights (e.g. 1 kg) are subject to industry-standard manufacturing tolerances of approximately ±3–5% to account for spool tare weight variation, moisture content at time of production, and filament diameter variance. This tolerance is standard across the industry and does not constitute a defect.
4.5 Product Safety and Safe Use
All FDM 3D printing filaments produce ultrafine particles (UFPs) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) when heated during printing. By purchasing our products, you acknowledge and agree to observe the following safe use requirements:
All materials — general safe use:
- Print in a well-ventilated area. Open windows or use mechanical ventilation while printing and for a period after printing concludes.
- Keep children and pets away from the printing area during and immediately after operation.
- Do not eat, drink, or touch your face while handling filament or operating your printer.
- Wash hands thoroughly after handling filament.
- Store filament in sealed, airtight containers with silica gel desiccant when not in use. Most filaments are hygroscopic (they absorb atmospheric moisture), which degrades print quality and can create popping or steam in the nozzle.
- Do not incinerate or burn filament waste. Dispose of failed prints and empty spools through appropriate waste channels.
- Never exceed the filament manufacturer's recommended print temperature range.
- Check the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for your specific filament before first use. SDS documents will be made available at spool3d.com.au as they become available, or by request at peter@spool3d.com.au.
PLA (Polylactic Acid):
Generally considered the lowest-emission common FDM filament. Derived from plant-based feedstocks. Emits lactic acid derivatives and ultrafine particles at standard print temperatures. Print with ventilation. Not suitable for food-contact applications unless a product is specifically certified for that purpose by the manufacturer.
PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol):
Low-emission material. Emits trace glycol compounds and ultrafine particles. Mildly hygroscopic — store sealed with desiccant. Print with ventilation.
Other materials (where available):
Some engineering materials (ABS, ASA, PC, Nylon, HIPS) have significantly higher VOC emission profiles and require enclosed printing environments with HEPA and activated-carbon air filtration. Always review the SDS for any material before use. If you are unsure whether a material requires enhanced safety precautions, contact us before printing.
We accept no liability for harm resulting from failure to observe these safe use guidelines.
5. Pricing and GST
5.1 All prices displayed on spool3d.com.au are in Australian dollars (AUD) and are inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the current statutory rate.
5.2 We reserve the right to change prices at any time without notice. Price changes do not affect orders already confirmed.
5.3 Price errors: If a product is listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical error, systems fault, or any other reason, we reserve the right to cancel the order and issue a full refund, even after order confirmation. We will notify you as soon as we become aware of the error. This right does not affect your statutory rights under the ACL.
5.4 We may offer promotional discounts or coupon codes from time to time. Promotions are subject to any terms stated at the time of the promotion, cannot be applied retroactively, and may be withdrawn without notice.
6. Placing an Order
6.1 An order is placed when you complete checkout through our Stripe-powered payment system and a confirmation email is issued. A confirmation email does not constitute an irrevocable commitment on our part; we may still cancel under the circumstances described in Section 7.4.
6.2 Shipping restriction: We currently ship only to addresses in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), New South Wales (NSW), and Victoria (VIC). Orders with delivery addresses outside these states/territories will be automatically refunded. This restriction is an operational limitation and may be expanded in the future.
6.3 By placing an order, you confirm that: (a) the delivery address is within the above states/territories; (b) all information provided is accurate and complete; (c) you are authorised to use the payment method provided.
6.4 No modifications after payment. Once an order is placed and payment processed, no modifications (change of item, colour, quantity, or delivery address) can be made. If you require a different product, you must request a cancellation (subject to Section 7) and place a new order.
6.5 Gift purchases: Where an order is placed as a gift for another person, the person who placed and paid for the order (the purchaser) is the "customer" for all purposes under these Terms, including all rights in respect of cancellations, returns, and refunds.
7. Order Cancellation
7.1 By you: You may request a cancellation through your order status page. Requests are reviewed and may be approved or denied depending on order status. Cancellations will be denied once an order has been dispatched. You have no automatic right to cancel once dispatch has occurred, except as required by the ACL.
7.2 Where a shipping label has already been generated, we will attempt carrier-level cancellation. If the carrier has already collected the parcel, cancellation may not be possible and the parcel may need to be refused at delivery or returned to us at your direction.
7.3 Approved cancellations result in a full refund to your original payment method, processed within 5–10 business days.
7.4 By us: We reserve the right to cancel any order at our discretion, including where: a product is out of stock after order placement; a pricing error has occurred; we have reasonable grounds to suspect fraudulent activity or misuse of our systems; the delivery address is outside our service area; or delivery is not possible for any reason. We will issue a full refund for any order we cancel.
8. Payment
8.1 All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store, access, or process your full payment card details directly.
8.2 By submitting payment details, you represent that you are the authorised account holder or have the account holder's express permission.
8.3 If Stripe processes a charge in error, contact us at peter@spool3d.com.au. We will investigate and issue a refund if the error is confirmed.
8.4 Chargebacks: If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card issuer before contacting us and allowing us at least five (5) business days to resolve your concern, you forfeit your entitlements under our voluntary Returns and Refund Policy. Your statutory rights under the ACL are not affected. We reserve the right to refuse future orders from customers who initiate chargebacks without prior contact.
9. Shipping and Delivery
9.1 We ship via Aramex Australia or CouriersPlease (carrier selection at our discretion).
9.2 Estimated delivery timeframes are indicative only and are provided by the carrier. We are not liable for carrier delays, weather events, industrial action, or other factors outside our control.
9.3 Risk of loss: Risk of loss or damage passes to you upon dispatch. If your parcel is lost or damaged in transit, we will work with you and the carrier to pursue an outcome, but we cannot guarantee the results of carrier investigations and accept no liability for carrier negligence beyond what is required by the ACL.
9.4 Incorrect address: If you provide an incorrect delivery address and the parcel is undeliverable, you are responsible for any additional redelivery or return costs. We will not issue a refund or replacement for a parcel that was undeliverable solely due to an address error you provided.
9.5 We do not currently deliver to PO Boxes. A valid street address is required. Carriers may leave parcels in a safe location at the driver's discretion or leave a calling card for collection at a depot, subject to the carrier's standard procedures.
10. Australian Consumer Law
10.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) ("ACL"). Any term that purports to do so is void to that extent.
10.2 Under the ACL, goods supplied to consumers come with non-excludable guarantees, including that goods will be of acceptable quality, match their description, and be reasonably fit for any purpose we have represented.
10.3 To the extent permitted by law, where we are liable for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to: (a) replacement of the goods or supply of equivalent goods; (b) repair of the goods; or (c) payment of the cost of replacing or repairing the goods, at our election for a minor failure, or at your election for a major failure.
11. Limitation of Liability
11.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law (including the ACL), we exclude all liability for: indirect, consequential, special, or incidental loss or damage; loss of profits, revenue, data, opportunity, or goodwill; loss arising from your use or misuse of our products; print quality outcomes or failures; acts or omissions of carrier partners; and third-party claims arising from your use of our products.
11.2 Fitness for purpose — printing outcomes: Print quality, accuracy, strength, and reliability depend on factors entirely outside our control, including your printer model and condition, nozzle and bed temperatures, print speed, cooling, ambient humidity, filament storage conditions, and slicer settings. We make no warranty that our filament will produce specific print results in your specific setup.
11.3 Safety-critical applications: Our filament is sold for hobbyist and consumer 3D printing. It is not warranted or certified for safety-critical, structural, medical, aerospace, food-contact, or load-bearing applications unless expressly stated in writing by us. Use of printed objects in applications where failure could cause personal injury or property damage is entirely at your own risk.
11.4 Subject to Sections 10 and 11.3, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or any order shall not exceed the total amount you paid us for the specific order to which the claim relates.
12. Prohibited Conduct
You must not:
- Use automated tools, bots, scrapers, crawlers, or scripts to access, index, copy, or data-mine spool3d.com.au without our prior written permission
- Place fraudulent orders or use stolen, unauthorised, or compromised payment credentials
- Initiate a chargeback or payment dispute without first contacting us to attempt resolution
- Abuse our returns policy through repeated or disproportionate change-of-mind returns
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse our staff or representatives
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to, or interfere with, our website, servers, or systems
- Misrepresent your identity or impersonate any person or entity
- Use this website for any unlawful purpose under Australian law
We reserve the right to refuse service, cancel orders, and block access to any person we reasonably believe has engaged in prohibited conduct, without notice and without liability.
13. Intellectual Property
All content on spool3d.com.au — including text, images, logos, design elements, and code — is owned by or licensed to Spool3D. You may not reproduce, redistribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content without our prior written consent. Nothing in these Terms grants you any licence or right in our intellectual property beyond what is necessary to browse and use this website for its intended purpose.
14. Force Majeure
We are not liable for failure or delay in fulfilling any obligation under these Terms where such failure or delay is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemic, epidemic, supply chain disruption, carrier industrial action, utility failure, cyberattack, or government restriction or order. If such an event prevents fulfilment of your order for more than 10 business days, you may cancel and receive a full refund.
15. Stock and Price Errors
Stock errors: If an item is oversold or becomes unavailable after your order is confirmed, we will issue a full refund. We do not offer compensation beyond a full refund for stock errors.
Price errors: If an item was listed at an incorrect price due to any error, we reserve the right to cancel the affected order and issue a full refund, even after confirmation. We will notify you promptly.
16. Product Recalls
If we become aware of a confirmed safety defect in a product we have sold, we will notify affected customers by email using the address provided at the time of purchase. You are responsible for maintaining a functional, monitored email address. We are not liable for failure to receive a recall notice sent to an email address you no longer access.
17. Dispute Resolution
We prefer to resolve disputes directly and informally. If you have a complaint, please contact us at peter@spool3d.com.au before escalating. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days and work to resolve it within 10 business days.
If we cannot resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may contact the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) at accc.gov.au, your state or territory consumer protection agency, or the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) for matters within ACAT's jurisdiction.
18. Class Action Waiver
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your purchase shall be brought in an individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding. This waiver does not affect any rights you have under the ACL or other legislation that cannot be waived or modified by agreement.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory and the laws of the Commonwealth of Australia applicable therein. Each party submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Australian Capital Territory, without prejudice to any right you may have to bring proceedings in any other jurisdiction as permitted by law.
20. General
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision is severed and the remainder continue in full force.
No waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Returns and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Spool3D regarding your use of this website and purchase of our products, and supersede all prior representations and arrangements.
